Mr and Mrs Franklin – Kitchen Fitting, Painting and Decoration

Mr and Mrs Franklin said;

In January 2019, the old kitchen was ripped exposing old paint and tiles of the past 100+ years. New electrics and plumbing had to be installed and walls were replastered. The kitchen units arrived plus appliances all set to go.

I had spoken about vaulting the kitchen ceiling and Alistair agreed that it would look amazing. On a very cold January morning, the kitchen ceiling was ripped out, exposing the beautiful red bricks of the dividing wall plus part of the old chimney. It also exposed the slate roof which had no insulation at all.

Alistair then lined the roof with four layers of insulation. The ceiling had not been included in the original plans so there had to be an adjustment to the layout of the wall units. Alistair then customised a couple of shelf units to fit, this then centralised the old chimney.

We chose to have a butler sink with Minerva worktops which had to have precision cutting. A challenging job for Alistair as he hadn’t worked with this material before. A template was made and then the cut was made, it fitted perfectly.

All lights were hung and LED lights were fitted under the wall cupboards. Alistair made a couple of floating shelves using an off cut from the worktop. Tiling, all painting of the walls and the ceiling, was completed to a high standard. Alistair did an amazing job from start to finish.

4 years on, we still think what an amazing transformation and I am so glad that he agreed to vault the ceiling which is always a talking point.
